Legal Representation

Under the counsel and direction of The Brothers, they have instructed me to hire a criminal defense attorney.  Dennis Iverson has graciously afforded me the opportunity to hire a defense attorney outside of the Public Defender’s Office.

We hired,

Branson K. West, Attorney at Law

All that I have requested of Mr. West is that I am allowed my day in court and to have the due process of law afforded to me as it is to every other citizen.  I went over the case briefly with Mr. West.  He will petition the court for a continuance of the matter (from the March 1, 2011 court date) so that he has the time to review the case further and prepare for the preliminary hearing.

Mr. West is very active LDS.  One day I’ll reveal how we found his name and why we chose him to represent me.  I do not question his integrity to represent me properly according to the law, regardless of what his personal views are about my claims.  In fact, the onus is now on his LDS belief that,

“We claim the privilege to worship God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege.  Let them worship how, where, or what they may.”

And, oh yeah, enemies and critics,

Don’t bother calling Mr. West and informing him of what a nutcase I am, I’ve revealed everything to him, holding nothing back, telling him the truth of all things.

And I think his eyes opened a bit wider when I told him I had lived once as Hyrum Smith.  :-)

But regardless, my claims are not the issue.  The facts of the case can now be properly presented according to the protocol required by the legal system.  I have never been afraid of standing up for the truth … I just wanted my proper day in court.

I’ll keep you informed of the proceedings.
